" Is fundamental for the city that these World Games 2013 would be develope here and in the little towns of the metropolitan area”.

These are not only non-Olympic sports that will concentrate on our territory, but it's all tourist mobility and gastronomic services. Financial, which will further potentiate the city of Cali. This news allows Cali to be seeing to the world not as the city of negligence, terrorism or drug trafficking, but how it is, a sports capital, so thanks to the organizers of the World Games, which assigned the headquarters to Cali and other cities of Valle del Cauca ".

A little history:

The Juegos Mundiales or World Games are held in the world since 1981 with sports that are not part of the Olympic Games program and are taken as an opportunity for athletes to measure their ability against opponents from other parts of the world and participate in experiences very similar to the ones provided by the Olympics.

The origin of these games comes from year of 1080 when Yong Kim, president of the World Taekwondo Federation, invited other leaders from different federations not to show up at the Olympics. The games participating back then were: aikido, air sports, archery (but cross-country), billiards, bodybuilding, bowling, canoeing, climbing, dance sports, ultimate, gymnastics (trampoline), handball, floor hockey, ju -jitsu, karate, orienteering, racquetball, skating racing, rugby, squash, sumo, surfing, underwater sports and water skiing.

There are also sports entirely unknown in Colombia, such as the boule lyonnaise (French version of bowls), faustball (some kind of volleyball in grass), casting (kind of precision fishing in ground!), Korfball (a combination of handball and basketball), rescue (like lifeguards from the beaches), powerlifting (power weights) and tug of war, which is nothing else than the game of 'pulling' the rope between two groups.

The mayor Ospina finally said: ": From now on we must prepare really well for the World Cup in 2011 and the World Games in 2013, Cali is going to be seeing from the nation as an Exelent Host of major sporting events. "

The Mayor of Cali also mentioned some positive aspects of hosting these games, We will have a wide hotel occupancy, well be visited from lots of tourists, covered by a huge international media, I think this is a great opportunity for all of us!.
